Old city to new societies
Lahore is the provincial capital of Punjab and one of the fastest-growing cities in Pakistan, and nearly every building in it shares one weakness: a flat roof that has to survive extreme weather. From May to June the sun bakes rooftops in Gulberg, Johar Town, Model Town and DHA until the concrete surface becomes too hot to touch. Then the monsoon arrives in July and August, often dumping huge amounts of rain in just a few hours, and water sits on roofs that were never properly sloped or sealed. That cycle of expansion in the heat and soaking in the rain is exactly what opens hairline cracks, lifts old tiles and lets water creep into the slab. Wellcool provides roof waterproofing in Lahore that is designed for this cycle, using flexible membranes and coatings that stretch with the slab instead of cracking.
Whether you live in an old brick house inside the Walled City, a two-storey home in a newer housing society, or you manage a commercial plaza or a factory shed in one of Lahore’s industrial estates, our team inspects the roof first, finds where water is really entering, and then recommends the system that suits your structure and budget. We do not apply one product to every roof. Call or WhatsApp us on 0321-4156036 to book a free inspection anywhere in Lahore.
Lahore has a hot semi-arid climate with a very long summer. Daytime temperatures regularly cross 40°C from late April onwards and frequently touch 45°C or more in May and June. A bare concrete roof absorbs this heat all day and releases it slowly through the night, which is why top-floor rooms in Lahore feel like ovens even after sunset. Every day the slab expands in the sun and contracts at night. Over a few summers this movement creates fine cracks across the roof surface, around water tank bases, and along the joints where the roof meets the parapet wall.
The monsoon then tests every one of those cracks. Lahore receives the bulk of its annual rainfall between July and September, and much of it falls in short, intense spells. When drains on the roof are blocked with dust, leaves or plastic bags, water ponds for hours, sometimes days. Standing water slowly finds its way through cracks, broken mortar and old brick tiles, and appears inside as brown patches, peeling paint and dripping from light fittings. Winter adds its own problem: weeks of fog and smog keep surfaces damp, and light winter rains in December to February mean roofs that leaked in the monsoon never fully dry out, so dampness and fungus spread into ceilings and walls.
Lahore’s building stock is extremely varied, and each type of building leaks in its own way. Understanding the structure is the first step to choosing the right waterproofing system.
After inspecting many roofs across the city, the same problems appear again and again. Most leaks are not caused by one big hole but by several small weaknesses that the monsoon finds together.

We protect your home, remove debris and leave the roof clean.
For most flat RCC roofs in Lahore, a liquid-applied elastomeric membrane is the most practical choice. It is rolled or brushed onto a cleaned and primed surface in multiple coats, often with a reinforcing fabric at cracks and corners. Once cured it forms a seamless rubber-like skin with no joints for water to enter. Its flexibility means it moves with the slab during the hot day and cool night instead of cracking, which is exactly what Lahore’s temperature swings demand. It also handles roofs crowded with tank stands and pipes, because it can be wrapped neatly around every penetration.
Polymer-modified cementitious coatings bond strongly to concrete and are well suited to water tanks, wet areas and roofs that will later receive tiles or a screed. On Lahore roofs we often use them as a base layer on surfaces with heavy foot traffic, or under new brick tiles. They are breathable and compatible with masonry, which also makes them useful on parts of older buildings.
Torch-applied or self-adhesive bituminous sheets give a thick, tough barrier and are still used on large commercial and industrial roofs. In Lahore’s heat, exposed bitumen softens and ages faster, so we either protect it with a reflective top coat or a screed. We use it where the roof and budget justify a heavy-duty membrane.
Because Lahore summers are so severe, many clients choose a combined system: a waterproof membrane followed by a white, solar-reflective top coat. This reflects much of the sunlight that would otherwise heat the slab, helps reduce top-floor room temperatures, and protects the membrane itself from UV damage so it lasts longer. You can read more on our roof heatproofing and reflective roof coating pages.
We check the roof, drains, tank bases, parapets and the leaking ceilings below.
Dust, loose plaster, moss and failed coatings are removed so the new system bonds.
Cracks are opened and filled; corners and joints are reinforced with fillets and fabric.
A compatible primer seals the pores and improves adhesion on the concrete.
Multiple coats are applied to the specified thickness, with extra layers at weak points.
Where practical we test with water, clean up, and explain simple maintenance.
Every roof in Lahore is different, so we do not quote a fixed rate before seeing it. A small roof on a new house in a housing society with a clean surface needs far less work than a large plaza roof or an old Walled City house with several layers of mud and tiles. After a free inspection we give you a clear written quotation that explains exactly what will be done. The main factors that affect the cost are:

A good waterproofing system lasts much longer when the roof is looked after. In Lahore, a few simple habits make a big difference. Clean your roof drains before the monsoon, usually in June, and again after any dust storm, because the fine dust and leaves that blow across the city quickly settle into outlets. Do not let water stand on the roof for more than a day after rain; if it does, the slope or the drain needs attention.
Avoid dragging heavy objects, water tanks or solar frames across a coated roof, and ask any technician installing an AC, dish or solar panel to protect the membrane where they drill or fix brackets. Check the roof once after the first heavy monsoon shower and once at the end of winter. If you see a new crack, a blister in the coating or damp spots inside, get it repaired early. Small repairs are quick; a leak ignored through one full monsoon can damage plaster, paint, electrical wiring and even steel reinforcement in the slab.
Older houses in the Walled City and in older neighbourhoods often have roofs built with brick, lime and steel girders, sometimes topped with thick mud and brick-tile layers added over decades. These roofs are heavy and they hold moisture. Sealing them with a rigid, non-breathable product can trap water inside the structure and make dampness worse. For these buildings we assess carefully, remove failed layers where it is safe, repair the masonry and use flexible, compatible systems that keep rain out while respecting the original construction.
Roof leaks are often only one part of a wider moisture problem. In Lahore we also provide bathroom and washroom waterproofing, water tank waterproofing, basement waterproofing, wall and ceiling waterproofing, leakage and seepage treatment, roof heatproofing, industrial shed heatproofing, interior painting and exterior painting after repairs are complete.

Clear timelines
The ideal window is from March to early June, before the monsoon arrives. The weather is dry, which lets surfaces be cleaned properly and coatings cure well. Waterproofing done before July means your roof is ready for the heaviest rains. However, if your roof is leaking during the monsoon, we can still carry out repairs during dry spells.
Many newer houses in Lahore were built without a proper waterproofing layer, or with only a thin coat that failed quickly. Shrinkage cracks, poor slopes and leaks around tank bases are common. A newer roof is usually easier to treat because the slab is in good condition, so waterproofing it early prevents bigger damage later.
Yes. Older brick, lime and girder roofs need a careful approach. We inspect the structure, remove failed layers where safe, repair masonry and use flexible, compatible systems. We avoid sealing old buildings with rigid products that trap moisture, because that can make dampness worse inside thick brick walls.
Waterproofing alone mainly stops water. If you want a cooler top floor during Lahore’s 45°C summers, we recommend adding a white solar-reflective top coat or a full heatproofing system over the membrane. This reflects much of the sun’s heat and also protects the waterproofing layer from UV damage.
Not always. If the tiles are sound and the layer is not holding water, we may be able to treat the surface. If the tiles are broken, hollow or the mud below is saturated, removal is often the better long-term solution. We decide this only after inspecting the roof and checking where the leaks originate.
For a typical house roof, work usually takes a few days, depending on the area, the amount of crack repair and the drying time between coats. Larger plazas, factory roofs or roofs that need old layers removed take longer. We give you an expected timeline with the quotation.
Yes. We work on commercial plazas, offices, schools, warehouses and factory roofs, including steel sheet sheds. For these buildings we plan the work to keep disruption to a minimum and can combine waterproofing with industrial heatproofing to reduce indoor temperatures.
