Not every wall suits a 3D illusion. The best walls are clearly visible from a main viewing spot, have a relatively uninterrupted surface, and are seen from a consistent distance — for example, the end wall of a corridor, the wall facing a sofa, or a wall opposite a café entrance. Walls seen only from very close or from many conflicting angles are better suited to geometric 3D patterns or physical relief, which work from any direction.
